End of March to early April is my favourite time of the year in Florence and I happened to be there again last March attending the 2 weeks' Portraiture Workshop at Charles Cecil's school.
End of March to early April is my favourite time of the year in Florence and I happened to be there again last March attending the 2 weeks' Portraiture Workshop at Charles Cecil's school.
Despite the mainly nice warm weather (with occasional rain) I had to spend most of the day in the school building giving my full attention to the studies. It was a very intense painting process in a very nice setup with only 2 painters sharing the model in a large room with high ceiling and natural light. We practiced the traditional sight sizing method for portraiture and worked both in charcoal and oil.
I totally enjoyed the workshop and found it very useful. Also despite the busy schedule I managed to re-visit most of my favourite places in Florence including Palazzo Pitti, The Uffizzi Gallery and Piazzale Michelangelo and reunite with some old friends.
